Another Day, Another Ruble

So July 4th was yesterday -- the festivities were limited, but it was a good time back at the basement of the Church, where we ate and had community recreation. Brother Oleg is back from the seminary in Slovakia, and Sergei, a seminarian switching from the Jesuits to the Archdiocese of Moscow, has been joining us for liturgies, meals and recreation.

Russian language lessons are going well. I have finished day two, and am starting to get the hang of it. It helps that everyone speaks Russian, and that all of the prayers and homilies are in Russian too. Брат Олег (Br. Oleg) is also helping me outside of class. I may be moving a little faster than these teachers are used to, because the other students are oriental, and though they are no les intelligent, their languages do not have as many sounds, and it takes a while for them to get the new sounds down. Also, they can gop back to the dorm and chat with each other all night in their own languages. There is a Korean in my class, and he's a pretty cool guy. But He's an Asian trying to grow a beard . . . you know how that goes. Anyway, I have to get going. Much to do.
